Drawing and Watercolor Workshop

Make your time in the North Woods an art experience. This drawing and watercolor workshop will inspire and teach. As a part of an outdoor excursion, the workshop will require walking approximately one to three miles. Good walking shoes and appropriate clothing are required. Bring a water bottle to sip from as you practice your new drawing or watercolor technique. Lessons are approximately three hours in length and may include detailed nature sketches, a landscape drawing lesson, and a color study lesson. The workshop will change locations as needed or necessary. Adults of all artistic abilities are welcome to participate; children must be over the age of eight to attend.

This drawing and watercolor workshop provides all drawing and painting supplies. Following the session you will have your created art pieces, a sketch book, and drawing pencil to take home with you.

Storytelling is the ancient art of conveying events in words, images, and sounds often by improvisation or embellishment. Stories have been shared in every culture and in every land as a means of entertainment, education, preservation of culture and in order to instill moral values. Storytelling has existed as long as humanity has had language. It's the world of myth, of history, of the imagination...it explains life. Every culture has its stories and legends, just as every culture has its storytellers and often revered figures with the magic of the tale in their voices and minds. Stories vary weekly.

Use your sewing talents to help create a quilt to be given away to hospice needs once complete. Guests work on individual squares using an outdoor theme. Once the squares are complete, we’ll have them sewn together and sent to the local hospital or hospice as a donation.

The first father’s day celebration was held on June 19, 1920, but it wasn’t until 1924 that President Calvin Coolidge provided the support for a national Father’s Day. Another 42 years passed before President Lyndon Johnson signed a Presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as the special day. And, six years later, President Richard Nixon provided the necessary signature signing Father’s Day into law. We don’t want our fathers to have to wait so long for a declaration. On this special day we have several activities to acknowledge and reward our fathers for being there for us.

The gourmet delights will entice every palate during this annual fundraiser. Organized by the American Culinary Federation’s five New Hampshire chapters, this fundraiser benefits two ACF programs -- Chef and the Child and Chef and the Schools. The event also supports the continuing education courses in which member chefs are enrolled, as well as on-the-job training programs for culinary students. Independence Day, or the Fourth of July, is the most important national holiday in the United States. It commemorates the formal adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The declaration, written by a committee headed by Thomas Jefferson, is an eloquent statement of the American colonies’ intention to become an independent nation. It broke the formal ties between the colonies and Britain after the American Revolution had begun. The Independence Day celebration is a reminder of the ideals on which the nation was founded.
